My Project: Raising Funds for the Center
This fundraising effort is a personal project inspired by my time in Cairo, where I was fortunate to meet the passionate founders of this center. They welcomed me warmly, and I quickly felt their deep commitment to creating positive change. Their belief in a better world, despite the hardships they’ve faced, moved me to take action.
Supporting this center is important to me because it’s a locally led initiative, and I want to ensure transparency in transferring funds. Every donation you make goes directly to the center, covering essential needs like materials and facilities. Together, we can help the center thrive and expand its impact on the community.
To keep the fundraising costs as low as possible, I am not using mobile transfer solutions but instead an account registered in my name, Josephine Amalie Ørum-Hansen. This fundraising initiative is approved by the Danish authorities, Indsamlingsnævnet, and registered under the name "Lokalt Håb" (Local Hope).

Brickstone Fundraising is dedicated to supporting a local center in Egypt that provides English and IT skills training to less privileged refugees and asylum seekers. This center is more than a place to learn; it’s a supportive space for people of all ages - from children to senioseeking to build a brighter future. The center, founded by two passionate individuals, aims to create a welcoming, multinational environment where people of all ages and backgrounds can thrive and build a better life.
Your support goes directly to where it's needed. Every donation is used transparently to cover essential resources that will be acquired as funds come in. Your support empowers learners of all ages and backgrounds to find new opportunities, giving them the tools to thrive in the new environment.
The Heart and Soul Behind the Center
The center was founded by two visionary men, Kemo and Mugwana, immigrants from Sudan and Uganda respectively. With a shared dream of making a difference, they built this center from the ground up, starting with nothing more than paper and pen to outline the practical needs and framework for their vision. Their goal was to create a home-like environment for refugees in Egypt - a space where people from diverse backgrounds could learn, connect, and feel secure.
For Kemo and Mugwana, this center is much more than a project; it’s their passion. Despite it being their second job, they dedicate countless hours to keeping it running. When resources fall short, they often contribute from their own pockets to ensure the center can continue its vital work. Their steady commitment is reflected in every aspect of the center, and with your support, we can help them sustain and expand this life-changing initiative.
Providing Tools, Teachers, and Accessibility for Refugee Education
Your support is essential in turning this vision into reality. The center relies on vital materials to create a productive and inspiring learning environment. Your donations directly help cover the cost of necessities such as chairs, pens, notebooks, and textbooks. Additionally, they contribute to funding modern technology, including computers and software, equipping students to navigate and meet the demands of a digital world.
Even the smallest contributions make a noticeable difference:
- 25 DKK – Donate a textbook for a student.
- 42 DKK – Provide a chair with an attached desk.
- 700 DKK – Contribute to a computer, unlocking digital skills and knowledge.
- 1000 DKK – Help purchase a printer for the center.
- 2800 DKK – Fund an air conditioner, creating a comfortable learning space during hot days.
